The deadline for legacy phone accounts to upload a bundle was August 31st 2024. If your number was created before this date and you did not submit a regulatory bundle, it may have been deactivated. You may need to set up a new number (with a bundle): Telephony
What is a regulatory bundle?
A regulatory bundle is a collection of documents required to verify and register your telephone number(s). This requirement is the result of very recent changes in global compliance regulations. You can submit a bundle for your telephone number directly within your Gnatta domain (see more below).
This applies to existing telephone numbers in your Gnatta domain, and any new ones you might create. If you have any concerns regarding bundles, please get in touch.
Why are bundles necessary?
Many countries around the world have recently been increasing their scrutiny on phone number usage. This increased scrutiny is driven by various factors, including increased incidents of misuse and abuse of phone numbers, heightened national security concerns, and increased pressure on the supply of new numbers.
As a result, various countries are updating their regulations or placing greater emphasis on the enforcement of existing regulations, including those requiring validation of who is actually using the phone number and exactly where that individual or business is located. In short, the intent of these regulations is to verify who is using the number and where they are.
The first step the global communications industry is taking to protect consumers is requiring businesses and organizations to submit their KYC (know your customer) information and become verified by the local authorities before they can begin texting or calling their customers. Currently, not all countries require KYC information, but as the communications industry evolves it is becoming more common.
To verify your telephone number(s) in Gnatta, you’ll need to create a bundle.
What information do you need?
Business address
Emergency address (physical address where emergency services can send help)
Business website address
Authorised representative information such as name, phone number, and work email
An excerpt from the commercial register if the business is not registered with the UK Companies House
An excerpt is a document summarising key information about a company, sourced from the official registry of the country where a company is registered.
How do I submit a bundle?
On your Gnatta domain, navigate to Configuration and expand the channel section. Locate the Phone and WhatsApp options (not in the Advanced section). Clicking on one of these will display the Bundles associated with your account, and their current status.
To add a bundle, click ‘Add Bundle’ in the top right. Use the stepper to upload the relevant documentation. Gnatta will then submit this to our partner provider Twilio for approval.
Bundles are approved within 3 working days (although we typically find it to be much quicker, so check back often!).
